The Vice Provost for Global Engagement (VPGE) collaborates with leadership in the Office of the Provost, schools, and other units across the university to promote and advance the institution’s global connections, collaborations, and profile. The VPGE is responsible for fostering international partnerships, enhancing global visibility, and supporting the internationalization of faculty, staff, and students, aligning efforts with the university’s mission and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
INSTITUTIONAL PARTNERSHIP and STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT
+ Collaborates with academic and administrative units to ensure global engagement aligns with the university's mission, values, and priorities.
+ Works closely with the Provost and university leadership to implement a comprehensive internationalization strategy in alignment with institutional goals.
+ Partners with the Office of Advancement on international donor relations, global initiatives, and fundraising efforts.
+ Collaborates with academic leaders to strengthen student engagement through study abroad programs, international recruitment, and cross-cultural initiatives.
+ Develops and maintains relationships with international institutions, governmental agencies, and organizations to promote academic collaboration, exchange, and research.
+ Collects and analyzes data related to global engagement and provides reports to university leadership, stakeholders, and accrediting bodies.
SUPPORT and PROMOTION
+ Promotes global and cross-cultural understanding within the university through workshops, training programs, and educational initiatives.
+ Supports faculty in their international research and scholarship, fostering global academic exchanges and partnerships.
+ Serves as an advocate and spokesperson for the university’s international engagement efforts, representing the institution at global forums and events.
+ Communicates the university's global achievements in research and education, enhancing its international profile.
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
+ Provides leadership and oversight for two reporting units: the Center for Education Abroad (CEA) and the International Services Office (ISO); provides leadership and oversight for functions housed within the Office of the Vice Provost including international partnerships, international communications, global travel risk management, and global operations.
+ Manages and oversees the budget and financial resources allocated for global engagement activities, ensuring efficient use and financial sustainability.
RISK and COMPLIANCE
+ Leads efforts to ensure the university complies with international and U.S. laws and regulations related to global engagement.
+ Mitigates risks associated with international activities, ensuring the safety of students, faculty, and staff participating in global programs.
Qualifications:
+ A terminal degree in Higher Education Administration, International Studies, or a related field.
+ Minimum 8 years of experience working in global education, international affairs, or related fields; 15 years or more preferred
+ Experience working in higher education;
+ Experience living, studying, or working abroad (outside the US and/or outside one’s home country).
+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally
+ Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across diverse constituencies.
+ A record of successful program development, implementation, and management in a global context.
+ Familiarity with internationalization frameworks, higher education accreditation standards, and global best practices.
+ Proficiency in one or more foreign languages.
**Salary Range** : $330,000 - 495,000
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
