    FlexStaff is looking for a PACU RN in Queens

     

    SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Nursing Manager or Head Nurse plans, directs, administers and evaluates patient care through the application of the nursing process. Participates in the revision, implementation and evaluation of Standards of Care, Performance Improvement (PI) plan and policies and procedures. Coordinates patient care and collaborates with members of the health care team. Demonstrates and facilitates excellence in nursing practice through coaching, education and mentoring of nursing staff and leading practice change initiatives based on evidence and data analysis. Is a clinical resource for allied personnel in the clinical area.

    General tasks and responsibilities will include:

    1. Performs systematic and on-going assessment of patient's biopsychosocial and educational needs while continuously maintaining and meeting patient safety goals.

    2. Plans, directs, and monitors nursing practice and provides nursing care appropriate to the age and needs of the patients and in concert with the theories of Caring Science and Culture Care, NYC Caring Model and Social Determinants of Health.

    3. Elicits patient/family participation in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the plan of care.

    4. Implements plan of care.

    5. Initiates patient/family education plan and evaluates patient/significant other understanding of content or ability to perform certain skill(s).

    6. Evaluates and revises the plan of care to reflect the resolution of problems and/or new patient needs.

    7. Initiates action to meet discharge needs through patient/family education or utilizing hospital/community resources.

    8. Promotes nursing practice guided by the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses.

    9. Participates in the implementation and evaluation of the unit QI/ PI program (s). Analyzes unit performance improvement (PI) activities and integrates improvement activities into nursing practice and patient care.

    10. Fosters positive public relations for hospital and profession.

    11. Establishes caring relationships with the patient, family and other participants in healthcare to achieve quality outcomes

    12. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures, fire safety, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster plan and procedures.

    13. Supports and participates in unit orientation of new staff members.

    14. Participates in the interview and selection of staff for assigned unit.

    15. Supports and/or participates in approved research programs and evidence-based practice projects.

    16. Assesses, organizes, and assigns patient care, documentation, and other nursing responsibilities according to patient needs and the education, experience and competence of nursing staff.

    17. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost, in planning and delivering patient care.

    18. Maintains continuity of patient care through unit handoff mechanisms.

    19. Participates in the identification of human and material resources available within budget that will facilitate the delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective quality patient care to the patient population on the unit.

    20. Participates in Shared Governance Councils meetings and supports Council decisions.

    21. Participates in Staff meetings and assigned committees.

    22. Directs professional and non-professional staff members.

    23. Reports any unusual or unexpected outcomes to appropriate person.

    24. Champions patient- centered care and the culture of safety.

    25. Utilizes the principles of the TeamStepps Program to improve communication, safety and interdisciplinary teamwork and the Just Culture Algorithm to manage risk and prevent adverse outcomes.

    26. Participates in the achievement of the Hospital's Strategic Goals

    27. Supports Unit staff achievement of the Hospital zero defects goal.

    28. Evaluates own nursing practice; seek constructive feedback through peer review, and acts to achieve goals identified in performance appraisal.

    29. Maintains clinical competence by keeping abreast of current trends in health care, legislation, regulations, and nursing practice.

    30. Participates in on-going educational activities to maintain current clinical knowledge and skills appropriate to practice setting.

    31. Anticipates patient's needs and within scope and authority, takes initiative to meet those needs, keeps patients and families informed about actions taken

    32. Provides consistent and timely follow-through which ensures that all customer requests are addressed in a prompt and courteous manner

    33. Makes every attempt to defuse potentially volatile situation

    34. Resolves differences in a spirit of cooperation; creates solutions that benefit all parties

    35. Able to maintain composure, efficiency and positive customer service-oriented manner during periods of peak workload

    36. Participates in the Customer and Staff

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:

    CERTIFICATION(S)/NYS LICENSE(S):

    * A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in New York State; and

    * Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).

    EQUIPMENT/MACHINES OPERATED:

    * Use of personal protective equipment (e.g., N95 respirator, face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed

    * During performance of clinical function, the following are expected to be encountered:

    • Use of assistive transfer devices during any patient handling task, if required to lift more than 35 lbs. of a patient's weight.

    EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

    * Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred

    * Professional certification preferred

     

    The salary range for this position is $106,301-$NaN/year
