Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant in the Monmouth Junction, New Jersey area. In this role, you will be an integral part of our team, providing vital support to our operations within the architecture industry. Your primary responsibilities will include the processing of project-related expenses, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with project managers to ensure financial efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage project budgets and funding based on contract details and input from Project Managers.
• Track project expenses systematically, including labor costs.
• Analyze budget variances and collaborate with Project Managers to identify cost-saving opportunities or funding requirements.
• Assist with financial forecasting to anticipate future project needs and challenges.
• Provide regular financial updates to Project Managers and stakeholders.
• Prepare accurate client invoices per contract terms; coordinate with consultants and Project Managers to ensure invoice terms are set upfront.
• Oversee collections and work with Project Managers to address outstanding accounts receivable issues.
• Process sub-consultant accounts payable transactions.
• Approve and manage the release of sub-consultant payments.
• Reconcile and finalize completed projects, ensuring all revenue is billed, all expenses are recorded, and project profitability is accurately reported.
• Support quarterly/year-end close and additional financial tasks as needed.
• Collaborate professionally with the Director of Finance, Controller, and other accounting staff.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting 3+ years of experience
• Proficient in MS Office; Deltek experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of project management principles is preferred.
• Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently or collaboratively. Critical thinking skills required.
• Strong communication skills for in-person, phone, and email interactions.
