Operating Room Aide -** **Mary Immaculate Hospital

Primary Function/General Purpose of** **Position

The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting with patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse. The employee transports, lifts, positions patients, provides cleaning of rooms between cases, restocks and maintains sufficient supplies for daily use. The Nursing Assistant demonstrates being an engaged employee by carrying out written and oral instructions with minimal direction. Seeks to supports and actively participate in maintaining a safe environment. Active participant in the team concept by performing additional assignments not directly related to the job when workload requires and as directed. Heavy lifting required. Individual must demonstrate initiative, excellent communication skills, and attention to details. Works well with others and requires minimal supervision.

Employment** **Qualifications

+ High School graduate or equivalent required.

+ Previous experience in hospital setting and patient care desired.

+ BLS - Heart saver certified or achieves it within 30 days of employment.

Essential Job** **Functions

+ Transports and transfers patient safely, promptly, and courteously.

+ Performs general and specific environmental functions throughout the Operating Room areas.

+ Assists with direct and indirect patient care during the intra-operative period as directed.

+ Effectively communicates and exchanges pertinent case and departmentinformation.

+ Promotes and maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment.

+ Demonstrates general competency in providing Age Appropriate Care as indicated by the ability to plan, provide, and evaluate care based on the physiological, psychosocial, intellectual, and safety developmental needs of the patient.
