    Project Engineer

    **Location:** Honolulu, HI

    **Salary Range:** $80,000 - $90,000 per year

    Summary Description

    The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager in planning work schedules, determining manpower levels, and arranging for the assignment of project personnel. This role involves coordinating project personnel activities to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget, and advising the Project Manager on potential problems and schedule difficulties.

    Essential Functions

    + **Assist Project Manager** in planning work schedules, determining manpower levels, and assigning project personnel.

    + **Coordinate project personnel activities** to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.

    + **Advise and recommend solutions** to the Project Manager for potential problems and schedule difficulties.

    + **Compose and edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures** as required.

    + **Oversee and process day-to-day administrative items** (e.g., expense reports, supply requisitions, personnel transaction forms, budgets) per supervisor’s authorization.

    + **Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis** per supervisor’s request, often requiring research and data interpretation.

    + **Perform additional assignments** as directed by the supervisor.

    Major Duties

    + **Quality Control:** Review quality programs, inspect contractor’s field work, select laboratories for testing, ensure corrective actions, certify trades, ensure materials meet contract specifications, prepare contractor submittals, and resolve conflicts.

    + **Financial Control:** Assist in preparing progress payment requests, estimates, cost changes, evaluate contractors’ claims, establish cost control procedures, and monitor schedules.

    + **Safety Tasks:** Prepare project safety programs, monitor safety, ensure safety training and equipment, and meet health requirements.

    + **Preconstruction Tasks:** Assist in design reviews and constructability reviews.

    + **Administration Tasks:** Manage site office, prepare budgets, inventories, reports, and files, liaise with local office staff, ensure proper inventory control, and perform other site obligations.

    + **Commissioning Tasks:** Coordinate closeouts, commission systems, manage the commissioning agent, provide warranty support, ensure commissioning training, and participate in relocation.

    + **Project Support:** Prequalify sub-subcontract bidders, evaluate bids, design new facilities, guide sub-contractors, coordinate construction projects, procurement, travel to project sites, make recommendations, organize meetings, prepare progress information, provide supervision, and participate in planning.

    + **Administrative Support:** Develop special contract provisions, participate in policy/procedure development, and training.

    Physical Requirements

    + Visit confined areas such as crawlspaces, attics, utility pits, tunnels, manholes, and other confined spaces.

    + Visit sites from heights such as rooftops, ledges, scaffolding, including climbing extension ladders and scaffolding.

    + Follow established safety regulations related to construction and renovation practices.

    + Perform work requiring prolonged standing, bending, and stretching.

    + Supervise sub-contractors and tradesmen working with building equipment, heavy machinery, and construction vehicles.

    + Work at construction sites with ambient noise and other environmental factors typical for such sites.

    Knowledge of Software Required

    + Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

    Education & Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree in a related field, including Engineering degrees, or a minimum of three (3) years of construction industry experience.

    Skills and Abilities

    + **Well-organized** with strong analytical and reasoning abilities.

    + **Excellent attention to detail** and ability to prioritize work.

    + **Ability to work independently** with minimal supervision.

    + **Excellent verbal and written communication skills** .

    + **Ability to work cooperatively** and maintain a positive and professional manner.

    + **Adaptability** in a fast-paced construction team environment (both field and office).

    + **Ability to work with a diverse group** including trade, office personnel, managers, contractors, and subcontractors.

    + **Maintain strict confidentiality** in the performance of all duties.
