This position is primarily administrative nurse work and only some hands-on patient care, approx. 90% admin & 10% patient care. The admin work consists of scheduling, phone calls with other physicians, patient families, law enforcement, Child services, etc., filling out forms, ordering supplies, and pre-authorizations.
A SANE background or a candidate who is willing to learn as this position helps with sexual assault exams and kits is strongly preferred.
The Senior Professional Staff Nurse, a Registered Nurse, is a key member of the care team, responsible for setting care standards and ensuring quality. They manage patient care for a group, applying independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members. They build strong relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes. The Senior Professional Staff Nurse is dedicated to both the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:
+ Formulate patient care plans in collaboration with patients, triage situations, and coordinate care with physicians.
+ Through effective communication and documentation, they contribute to patient care quality, safety, and satisfaction, using evidence-based practices to support improvement initiatives.
+ Accountable for their professional development, improving patient care quality, and actively participating in shared governance, goal-setting, and quality improvement efforts.

+ Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
+ BSN preferred
+ UPMC-approved national certification or a master's degree in Nursing, and UPMC Professional Contribution.Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development principles across the lifespan.
+ Assess patient data to identify age-specific needs and provide care accordingly, following department policies.
+ Solid or higher performance evaluation rating
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ UPMC approved national certification preferred.
+ CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Registered Nurse (RN). RN license must be issued either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
+ Act 33 with renewal
