The Department of **Laboratory Medicine and Pathology** has an opportunity for a **Medical Laboratory Courier Lead** .
SCHEDULE
Day shift, Monday - Friday

+ Relocation incentive for eligible new employees. **REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS** Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license. **ADDITIONAL POSITION QUALIFICATIONS** Working experience in administrative support working on software, email, and customer service. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Leads the work of Medical Laboratory Couriers.
+ Uses a variety of tools, including UW email, Teams, Google Sheets, hc1, SafetyNet, SunQuest, and the digital specimen tracking system, Medical Courier Elite (MCE), to communicate, document, and escalate information.
+ Monitors and updates internal communication documents, completes daily reconciliation procedures, completes monthly archive procedures.
+ Responds to inquiries regarding specimen issues, on-call pickups, route questions, and other courier-related concerns.
+ Creates daily report to communicate schedule and coverage information to Division Leadership.
+ Responds to call-out emails and assists Coordinator with arranging coverage.
+ Monitors and updates schedule for coverage gaps and issues.
+ Maintains a thorough understanding of all routes and may cover routes in an emergency.
+ Assists in assigning and monitoring the tasks of utility couriers, including office and vehicle cleaning, transporting supplies, and moving fleet vehicles.
+ Communicates with UW Fleet Services for vehicle-related issues, submits fuel receipts, mileage reports, and updates internal logs.
+ Trains staff on the digital specimen tracking system, Medical Courier Elite (MCE), and provides ongoing support as needed.
+ Trains staff in basic courier skills, assesses route-specific competency, and completes training checklists and documentation.
+ Obtains necessary site access badges for staff and maintains an up-to-date badging contact sheet and inventory.
+ Maintains an inventory of supplies; submits and reconciles purchase orders.
+ Supports Division Leadership in addressing issues related to couriers, routes, vehicles, supplies, and other operational matters.
+ Monitors and communicates highway and weather conditions to couriers.
+ Ensures vehicles are outfitted with proper safety and emergency preparedness equipment.
+ Schedules and coordinates driver safety training.
+ Assists with submitting accident reports when necessary.
+ Runs specimen reports, interprets and documents the data, and escalates issues to Coordinators and Program Operations Specialists.
