The Duker Lab at New York University is currently seeking a full-time Junior Laboratory Associate (Lab Manager or Research Coordinator) to begin in Late Summer/Early Fall 2025. The Junior Laboratory Associate will work closely with Dr. Ajua Duker and her lab group to coordinate and conduct research studies. This position is ideal for highly motivated college graduates who are looking to strengthen their research skills before applying to graduate school in psychology, behavioral science, or related fields.
The Duker Lab conducts research on topics such as discrimination, affective science, emotion regulation, group identity, and collective action, and employs a range of methods including online and in-person behavioral experiments, natural language processing, and archival studies.
Responsibilities include:
+ designing and running studies; preparing study materials
+ cleaning & analyzing data
+ writing and editing manuscripts
+ planning research events & meetings
+ setting up and maintaining the lab website and lab equipment
+ training & working with research assistants
+ assisting in managing grants, IRB protocols, and other documents
+ scheduling & recruiting participants
The Junior Laboratory Associate will have opportunities to develop their own independent research projects, contribute to ongoing collaborative lab projects, and attend or present at scientific meetings. They will also have the opportunity to participate in the broader intellectual community in the New York University Department of Psychology.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience. We expect the position to start in July or August, but the exact date is flexible. The position is an initial appointment for one year with renewal for a second year or more, contingent on positive performance.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,656-$65,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social sciences, computer science, or a related discipline is required. The ideal candidate would be conscientious, self-motivated, and highly organized, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The following qualifications/characteristics are highly desired:
+ interest in pursuing graduate studies related to behavioral science
+ interest in conducting original research and writing academic papers
+ previous experience conducting psychological research (ideally experience with independent research, e.g., an honor’s thesis)
+ ability to work under deadlines, excellent organizational skills, and ability to complete detailed work accurately
+ skills in programs related to data analysis (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata)
+ effective oral and written communication skills
