General Statement

Facilities Services (http://www.montana.edu/us/fs/) and the Auxiliary Services departments of Residence Life (http://www.montana.edu/reslife/) , Family & Graduate Housing (http://www.montana.edu/fgh/) , Culinary Services (http://www.montana.edu/ufs/) , Sports Facilities (http://brickbreeden.com/) , and Strand Union (http://www.montana.edu/sub/) are responsible for maintenance and custodial of the facilities they manage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Custodians provide cleaning and maintenance service for MSU .

Primary emphasis is on:

+ Cleaning areas (including restrooms)

+ Carpeted and hard-surface floor care

+ Trash removal

+ Room set-ups

+ Other related duties

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

All relevant education and experience that you submit in your application will be considered.

+ Experience with custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, etc.

+ Experience working effectively with minimal or no supervision.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

+ Experience providing excellent customer service.

+ Certifications, classes completed, or knowledge of safety procedures utilized in a custodial, janitorial or housekeeping position.

The Successful Candidate Will

+ Be able to positively and professionally perform all the functions of the position

+ Consistently exercise initiative and good judgment

+ Effectively and safely operate work-related equipment and tools

+ Accurately follow written and oral instructions and procedures

+ Exhibit strong communication skills

+ Work effectively and efficiently in close cooperation with staff in a team-oriented environment

+ Be able to complete multiple tasks in a timely manner

+ Quickly adapt to changing priorities

+ Possess strong organizational skills

+ Maintain excellent customer service

+ Be highly motivated and work with minimal supervision

+ Have excellent attention to detail

+ Represent the department and MSU to others in a professional and courteous manner

Physical Demands

+ Moving up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 100lbs

+ Moving items (such as stacking chairs, folding tables, setting up portable stages, carrying floor sealer, etc.) up and down stairs

+ Moving up and down stairs

+ Moving up and down ladders

+ Stationary or moving about for extended periods of time

+ Gripping handles on cleaning equipment

+ Regular exposure to cleaning solutions.
