General Description

The Baltimore Long Term Urban Watershed Study currently has an opportunity for a Project Assistant, working approximately 7-14 hours per week to help collect and process stream and soil samples in the field and laboratory.

The position begins approximately April 1, 2025 and concludes approximately October 31, 2025, with possibility of extension depending on availability of funding and performance. This is a temporary, hourly, non-exempt, non-benefited position.

Closing date is April 18, 2025 or until filled.

Position reports to Dr. Peter Groffman.

Other Duties

Qualifications

+ Associates or Bachelor's degree in some area of Environmental Science required

+ Be able to work independently and communicate clearly

+ Have background in environmental science, hydrology, ecology, soils

+ Ability to work outside during hot summer and cold winter conditions

+ Be authorized to work in the U.S.

Finalist candidate may be required to successfully complete driving background record check.

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
