Job Summary:
The Tax Associate will play an important role in the maintenance of corporate tax strategies to minimize tax liability and comply with all laws and statutes. In addition, the Tax associate will assist the Tax Department with various ad-hoc tax projects, including collecting and analyzing data and documentation for multistate sales tax audits, reviewing and compiling customer sales tax exemption certificates, researching and reclassing product category data for sales tax holidays, and other tax related assignments. This position reports to the Sr. Tax Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Prepare consolidated federal and state corporate income tax returns
+ Prepare Puerto Rico corporate income tax returns
+ Prepare workpapers for monthly sales and use tax return filings
+ Assist with tax journal entries and reconciliations
+ Prepare income tax audits as needed
+ Assist with various tax related projects by analyzing and compiling data
+ Conduct tax research for various projects
+ Assist with preparation of tax calculations and waste tax returns
+ Administrative tasks such as sorting and scanning tax mail correspondence
Education, Experience & Skills:
Category Applicable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Minimum education required/preferred, area of study: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax, required
Minimum # of years/experience required/preferred: • 1-2 years of accounting/tax department experience, preferred
Additional skills/knowledge/certifications required and/or preferred: • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products
• Experience with ERP systems
• Team player with positive focus on timeliness, quality of work, attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
