    We are looking for a Senior Test & Compliance Engineer who will collaborate with NPD groups globally to design and execute test plans, ensuring products meet industry standards and regulatory compliance. Sr. Test Engineer will collaborate with both in-house and external test labs, oversee product technical risk management, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain quality and compliance throughout the product lifecycle. This role requires expertise in UL, CE, medical device testing standards as well as prior experience working with products that meet MIL-STD testing. Building and sustaining key relations with external test labs and managing them is a crucial responsibility, as well as instilling deep understanding of industry regulations and certification processes for internal engineering teams.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    + Test Planning and Execution:

    + Design, implement, and execute detailed test plans, including functional, performance, V&V protocols.

    + Develop test cases for complex systems to ensure all functionalities meet the intended requirements.

    + Assist with execution of manual and automated testing of hardware and software systems, identifying defects and ensuring they meet compliance and regulatory standards.

    + Regulatory Compliance:

    + Ensure that all products and systems comply with industry standards, government regulations, and internal policies.

    + Work closely with cross-functional teams, including external test labs to ensure the design and development processes comply with relevant compliance and certification requirements (e.g., ISO, CE, UL, etc.).

    + Participate in the development of documentation required for product certifications, including but not limited to safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and environmental compliance.

    + Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

    + Analyze product risks and collaborate with engineering teams to develop test strategies to mitigate identified risks.

    + Prepare and maintain risk management documentation (e.g., Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Hazard Analysis).

    + Test Documentation and Reporting:

    + Create, maintain, and review comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test reports, and issue logs.

    + Provide detailed analysis of test results and compliance issues to management and stakeholders.

    + Maintain traceability from requirements to test cases and defects.

    + Cross-functional Collaboration:

    + Collaborate with engineering, product management, and operations teams to ensure that the product meets the necessary compliance and quality standards.

    + Be the subject matter expert on compliance requirements and testing best practices in customer meetings

    + Mentor and provide guidance to junior test engineers on testing methodologies, tools, and compliance standards.

    + Continuous Improvement:

    + Stay up to date with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in compliance and testing.

    + Identify opportunities for process improvements within testing and compliance areas and actively contribute to optimizing workflows.

    + Propose and implement improvements to enhance test effectiveness, efficiency, and product quality.

    Education / Training / Skills / Experience:

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with demonstrated career in equivalent or related domains.

    Experience:

    + 8+ years of experience in test engineering, quality assurance, or compliance roles.

    + Extensive experience with industry regulations (e.g., ISO, CE, UL, RoHS, WEEE, FCC) and product certification processes. Experience with batteries, power systems testing is a plus

    + Hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing tools and frameworks.

    + Proven track record of driving product compliance initiatives from concept to certification.

    Skills:

    + Strong understanding of software and hardware testing methodologies.

    + Proficient in test management tools and defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira, TestRail).

    + Familiarity with industry regulations and certification processes.

    + Knowledge of risk management practices, including FMEA, hazard analysis, etc.

    + Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and present test results, issues, and compliance findings.

    + Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

     

    Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB, Six Sigma, etc.) are a plus.

    Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Travel:

    Periodic travel in support of New Product Development will be required both domestically and internationally.
