    Overview

     

    Starting rate: $23.50/hr

     

    The Autism Support Broker provides services to children under the age of 9 enrolled in the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services, Autism Waiver Program. The Autism Waiver Broker is expected to initiate the planning process with families selected for the program and carry a full caseload. In addition, the support brokers provide support and facilitation with autism support center programs, activities, and office needs. This position is a hybrid with office requirements for Worcester and Framingham as well as occasional travel within the MetroWest and Central Mass service areas.

     

    Minimum Education Required

     

    High School Diploma/GED

    Responsibilities

    1. Actively access capacity and strengths of families on assigned caseload.

    2. Assist families with developing and writing the autism support plan.

    3. Provide families with comprehensive support with development of yearly budget and goals.

    4. Assist families with identifying and hiring staff for eligible children in the autism wavier program.

    5. Secure and provide training verification records on all providers on caseload to clinical manager.

    6. Coordinate and broker services and support from community professionals and agency resources.

    7. Ensure the development and implementation of appropriate services- with emphasis on need areas from autism support plan, as well as community inclusion.

    8. Assist the family with skills needed to coordinate scheduling and log time for all service providers.

    9. Collaborate with other agencies to purchase goods and services, adaptive equipment and home modifications.

    10. Schedule and attend monthly meetings with families.

    11. Attend quarterly progress meeting with waiver clinical managers, waiver staff and families in their home.

    12. Write monthly progress notes and episodic notes.

    13. Attend all waiver trainings and staff meetings.

    14. Maintain open lines of communication with families, funding sources, consultants, the community at large, program and administrative team.

    15. Ensure all families are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights Policy.

    16. Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred

    2. 2 years of relevant experience supporting children in the Autism Community 1:1, as a teacher or paraprofessional.

    3. Personal family experience with autism may substitute for some educational requirements

    4. High School Diploma or GED acceptable with the approval of Vice president and relevant experience and training as listed

    5. Strong organizational skills

    6. Valid MA Driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Metrowest, and to flex hours to meet the needs of families served – this will include some evenings
