Job Description
**COMPANY:** Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.
**LOCATION:** 168 Third Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451
**TITLE:** Engineer II, Field Service
**HOURS:** Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
**DUTIES:** Provide onsite and remote Service and support for Industrial Control Equipment for Metals and Lithium-Ion Processing Production Lines.
Ensure that North American customer needs and expectations are met and exceeded within the parameters of the job.
Responsible for the overall support and service of an assigned customer list.
Coordinate long term and short-term planning for maintenance, and repair events with manufacturing and management.
Communicate downtime, maintenance needs, and prioritization.
Provide system installation/Commissioning services.
Provide General Maintenance at customer sites.
**REQUIREMENTS:** MINIMUM Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or related field of study.
MINIMUM Experience Requirement: 2 years of Engineering experience in an instrumentation/ service process control environment, or a related occupation.
Travel: Up to 85% travel to sites throughout North America required. Telecommuting Employee: Can work remotely or telecommute.
Required knowledge or experience with:
• Computer Networking, Troubleshooting computer Hardware and networking issues including IO to customer specific relay and Opto modules and links;
• Troubleshooting DC drive systems including bearings for wheel assemblies, Pneumatic cylinders, water chillers;
• Subject matter expertise in Steel / Aluminum and LiIon process production facilities;
• Quality control systems to measure the thickness, width and specific coatings on steel and aluminum and also Lithium Ion manufacturing;
• Reading electrical schematics and addressing system issues from schematics;
• Wonderware, EPOS or similar HMI/GUI software;
• Extrusion control, calendar control, and Machine direction control;
• Experience in Field Service environment;
• Working with Sales Teams and Engineering to improve products; and
• Effectively conveying complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders with a view towards taking appropriate action.
