Description

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics Research has an opening for a Research Assistant professor. Research directed lab to elucidate the mechanisms through which the protein missing in Fragile X Syndrome, FMRP, normally functions and cellular mechanisms that are mis-regulated in its absence, with an eye toward developing therapeutics. The successful candidate will have a strong background and expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry. The Research Assistant Professor will be designing and conducting original experiments, publishing scientific papers, helping mentor and direct the research for junior members of our lab, and participating in the writing of grant applications.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree with major course work in molecular biology and biochemistry and 2 years of relevant postdoctoral training required. The knowledge and ability to perform and troubleshoot experiments associated with Biochemistry and Molecular Biology that involves tissue culture and possibly mice. and mass spectrometry.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
