Job Description
+ Lead the Cost Management team (40 Full Time Employees) on specific client commissions, making sure that the team delivers on all accountabilities.
+ Interface with the client, stakeholders and other consultants, at all project stages to ensure that project and program outcomes are clearly articulated and progress is being achieved .
+ Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products, and drive innovation into these using specific cost management skill set.
+ Ensure that key information and learning generated from each commission is inputted into internal databases and shared.
+ Lead business generation opportunities (proposals, interviews, contract negotiations) for new work or variations for existing projects in the cost and commercial management service stream.
+ Recruitment – lead the formal recruitment process for new cost and commercial management resources, including having the accountability to negotiate and approve the hiring of new team members.
+ Lead staff performance management, including regular staff performance reviews, including the management of poor performance, oversight of Performance Improvement Plans (PEPs) and the firing of cost management staff, if and where necessary.
+ Financial management – have overall accountability for financial performance of all cost management projects, keeping track of the ongoing margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts for each commission.
+ Quality Control – Ensure compliance with quality standards and participation in ISO audits. Conduct Director audits on key large scale projects, and oversee our quality assurance process across all other projects.
+ Peer reviewing of key cost and commercial management deliverables – cost estimates, cashflows, procurement documentation, cost reports, monthly interim valuations etc.
+ Drive cost management digital innovation across the team – cost benchmarking app, market rates app, CostX cost planning and measurement software and cost control app.
For Major Projects that require increased Director leadership:
+ Set out the strategy and quality assure all estimating and cost planning deliverables including the final client presentation of the cost plan deliverable.
+ Set out the strategy and quality assure all procurement activities. Lead supplier interviews and negotiations, including the compilation of final contract documents.
+ Peer review and quality assure all major project cost checks and valuations to ensure timely, accurate cost checking of the valuation process.
+ Peer review and quality assure all major project financial reporting and cost reports, including contingency management and commitment tracking logs.

SALARY RANGE: $191,000 to $240,000/year
JOB TIME: Full Time
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and 8 years of experience in job offered or 8 years of experience in the Related Occupation.
