Job Overview
Fairview Range is hiring** **a Coder** **for our Coding Department,** **in** **Hibbing, MN** **.
The Coder is responsible for coding and abstracting the medical record and assigning appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. Responsibilities also include utilizing an electronic coding software to code to the highest level of specificity, ensuring optimal and appropriate reimbursement for the services provided. The Coder will resolve medical necessity edits and denials, abstract clinical data for use by internal users or external agencies, resolve clinical documentation and charge capture discrepancies, and provide feedback to providers on the quality of their documentation and charging. Through these tasks, you will actively contribute to supporting the goals of Fairview Range.
**Schedule:** This position will work 72 to 80 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8-hours on the Day shift. Weekends: None
_This is an on-site position with the potential to transition into remote work based on experience and competency._

As a Coder you, you will be responsible for:
+ Abstracting pertinent information from patient records and assigning correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, or HCPCS codes as applicable.
+ Resolving any questions concerning diagnosis, procedures, clinical content of the chart, or code selection through research and communication. May query physicians on documentation according to established procedures and guidelines.
+ Maintaining productivity and accuracy standards for coding visits or encounters, as established by the coding department.
+ Staying up-to-date with coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements. Bringing identified concerns to the Manager or Coordinator for resolution.
+ Following established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, as well as continuous quality improvement objectives and safety and environmental standards.
+ Adhering to the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and follows official coding guidelines.
+ Ensuring strict confidentiality of financial and medical reports.
+ Attending coding conferences, workshops, and in-house sessions to stay updated on coding information and changes in coding and/or regulations.
+ Maintaining current AHIMA/AAPC coding certification once obtained.

+ Must work independently, be self-motivated, and be available during scheduled core working hours.
+ Organize and utilize time effectively to ensure all assigned tasks are completed promptly.
+ Demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest and most reliable quality service available every day.
+ Bring suggestions, concerns, or ideas to the department Manager or Coordinator without needing to be asked.
+ PERSONAL CONTACTS/COMMUNICATION/BEHAVIOR:
+ Demonstrate the ability to provide service-adjusting approaches that reflect the developmental level and cultural differences of the population being served.
+ Develop and maintain open communication with the staff in both your department and other departments to achieve overall organizational goals and objectives.
+ Participate in regularly scheduled department meetings, as well as any other meetings that may be requested.
+ Maintain your personal appearance and hygiene as outlined in the Human Resources manual.
+ Demonstrate ethical conduct and practices that align with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Required Qualifications
+ Enrolled in or Completed a Coding Specialty Program
+ 2 years of healthcare experience
+ AAPC or AHIMA certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Completion of a Coding Specialty Program or degree in HIM
+ At least one year of coding experience
+ Current AAPC or AHIMA certification
