    The Opportunity:

    + CACI is looking for an experienced **Spacecraft Electrical Power System (EPS) System Engineer** to work with NASA on the International Space Station (ISS), its visiting vehicles, and future spacecraft.

    + This system engineering position involves insight/oversight of human-rated space vehicles specializing in the electrical power systems that encompass energy generation, energy storage, and power distribution systems.

    + Typical areas of focus will be verification and validation of ISS power quality requirements, ISS visiting vehicle requirements, fault management, mission sequencing, etc.

    + This engineering position may also involve analysis of test data, comparison of test data against program requirements and assessment, design analysis, testing and integration, and technical oversight of spacecraft Electrical Power Consuming Equipment (EPCE) including for ISS and visiting vehicles.

    + This work requires collaboration with Spacecraft prime development contractors.

    + This position requires a self-starting, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must possess strong customer relationship skills, have a positive team-player attitude, and be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise.

    + Additional assignments may involve segments of the full lifecycle of developing power systems including battery and charger systems.

    + Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate technical ideas in an effective manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of human-rated space vehicles.

    Responsibilities:

    + Review and oversight of system level requirements, integration, verification, validation, and certification.

    + Deep understanding of energy storage, power distribution, and energy conversion at the system level.

    + Work with and coordinate with various stakeholders within the ISS partnerships throughout NASA and private industry.

    + Contribute to the various NASA project lifecycle milestone reviews such as System Design Reviews (SDR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), and Critical Design Reviews (CDR).

    + Perform systems engineering, such as hazard analysis, on vehicle subsystem domains.

    + Support Safety Review Panels (SRP).

    + Additional responsibilities may include, related fabrication and test certification activities include prototyping and building ground support equipment (GSE) used for battery chargers, developing test requirements and test plans, and performing tests on the integrated systems.

     

    This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

    Qualifications:

    _Required:_

    + U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to US Government facilities.

    + B.S. in Electrical Engineering or in related discipline required.

    + Minimum of 3-5 years of electrical power systems experience required. Greater experience is valued.

    + Systems Engineering experience, especially involving the verifying of requirements. Experience with creative or alternative ways of verifying requirements is valued.

    + Excellent people skills able to facilitate meetings with various stakeholders.

    + Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.

    + Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.

    + Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.

    _Desired:_

    + M.S. in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems.

    + Experience with aerospace vehicle (spacecraft or aircraft) electrical power systems.

    + Experience with power system stability, electrical protective devices, power conversion (such as dc/dc converters and transformers) and various electrical energy sources (such as batteries, solar arrays, etc.).

    + Familiar with fault tolerance of power architecture.

    + Experience with Simulink/MATLAB or other system level evaluation tools.

    + Experience with NASA requirements documents.

    + Experience in the NASA/JSC environment or other highly technical environment is a plus.

    The proposed salary range for this position is:

    $69,100 - 141,500 USD
