*Description*
*Purpose: *
The EMS Coordinator works collaboratively with all members of the VBMC ED and the multidisciplinary EMS community including Fire, Police and Emergency Management organizations in and around Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster counties. The coordinator will be the primary point of contact for the EMS community to enhance client relations through refines of needs analysis and service opportunities. The coordinator will interact directly with clients, demonstrating professionalism and enthusiasm, while focusing on the organization’s commitment to meet and exceed customer expectations. The coordinator will coordinate education, community events, process adherence and clinical discrepancies/concern resolution. The coordinator will be assigned projects that require gathering data to improve outcomes, improve processes and identify appropriate follow-up. Other relevant requirements may include traveling to EMS Community offices/events. Population served is based on scope of services in the department.
**
*Essential Responsibilities:*
* Primary point of contact for VBMC ED, the EMS community, all hospital and pre-hospital personnel on EMS issues or concerns, liaison for the clinical quality improvement activities of patients that arrive by ambulance.
* Develop data collection tools for tracking, evaluating and trending of EMS personnel and med control issues and outcomes, and performance measurement data.
* Coordinate case review activities where there is a deviation from clinical protocol standards.
* Track and review all pre arrival care and the clinical reporting of patients arriving by ambulance to ensure clinical protocol adherence.
* In collaboration with the EMS Continuous Quality Improvement Coordinator, review and perform CQI on ambulance report forms and EMS telemetry forms on a periodic basis and complete appropriate documentation.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of blood born pathogen, communicable disease and other exposure protocols.
* Sampling of EMS run sheet are reviewed for appropriateness of care, reports findings to EMS Medical Director and Director of Emergency Services.
* Assumes responsibility for communication within the EMS Community to ensure that information is shared for effective Emergency Department operations and promote positive community and employee relations.
* Plans, coordinates, implements, and manages EMS outreach and community event activities including, scheduling employees and volunteers, working with vendor partners on logistics, ordering and delivering giveaway items, and ensuring coverage of the event from set up through breakdown.
* Act as the Program Director for Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) and Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) systems.
* Investigate all EMS system complaints and communicated to the EMS Medical Director.
* Partner with ED Manager for high reliability process development and outcomes.
* Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Values.
* Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
* Performs other duties as required.

*Education and Experience Requirements: *
* *High School Diploma or equivalent experience.*
* *Minimum off five (5) years Health Care experience (technician, EMT, and Paramedic).*
* *Prefer: Associate degree. *

*Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:*
* *Knowledge of healthcare issues, area demographics, and EMS.*
* *Computer and software skills, including work processing, spreadsheet and database management.*
* *Strong oral and written communication skills.*
* *Ability and desire to work independently and with a wide variety of people.*
**
*License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:*
* *Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).*
* *Prefer: Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) or Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS).*
