Summary This position is located at Java Cafe at Presidio of Monterey-Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation.This is a flexible position (0-40 hours) with no eligibility to participate in the NAF Employee Benefits Plans. This announcement is open and continuous; closing 06/05/2025 or until the position is filled. Bi-weekly reviews sent to management starting 17 Apr 2025 and every other Thursday after. Responsibilities In a Snack Bar, prepares a limited variety of short order fast food items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fish and chicken sandwiches, pizzas, french fries, etc. Accepts food orders from patrons and serves beverages. Spot checks guest checks to ensure that the information recorded is correct. Serves as cashier in the snack bar, receiving payment by cash or charge. Completes cash report at the end of assigned shift. Follows all safety, security, and good housekeeping rules. Ensures that tables/work surfaces are promptly cleared and cleaned. Cleans other work areas to include walls, floors, equipment, and storage areas. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Qualification Requirements: Experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade including but not limited to the following: 1. Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages. 2. Ability to work without more than normal supervision. 3. Must be able to keep things neat, clean and in order. 4. Possess basic food preparation and handling techniques. 5. Possess the ability to interpret verbal and written instructions. 6. Knowledgeable of basic sanitation principles. 7. Possess the ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment. 8. Able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds and frequency walk, bend, stoop, pull, push and reach. **If providing a resume, the information provided on your resume should be clear and specific. Commuting area is defined as Monterey County, Santa Cruz County, San Benito County California. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
