    Position Summary Information

    Position Summary

    The Lab and Simulation Coordinator is responsible for the administration and oversight of the extensive and complex activities pertaining to student learning and practice in the nursing skills laboratory and in the simulation lab. Didactic teaching responsibilities are included in this role. This position is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position.

    Major Responsibilities

    + Collaborate with the Traditional baccalaureate program director and nursing faculty to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success.

    + Collaborate with the nursing faculty to assess, design, and implement lab instruction for nursing students across the curriculum.

    + Collaborate with the nursing faculty to develop and implement evidence-based simulation scenarios and laboratory skills activities consistent with national standards of Patient Care and Professional Expectations, ANA _Code of Ethics_ , and _Essentials_ competencies (2021).

    + Attend lab planning meetings with the faculty assigned to teach labs to ensure lab and simulation settings are appropriately managed, consistent expectations for student performance, and have the required supplies/equipment.

    + Provide oversight and management of the nursing skills laboratory

    + Develop and maintain the schedule of the nursing skills laboratory to include open lab hours, lab classes, clinical skill competencies and utilization of the lab for other disciplines/requests.

    + Maintain an inventory of lab equipment/supplies and reorders as necessary.

    + Recommend the hiring and managing of student lab assistants and lab adjuncts.

    + Consult annually with program director and department chair on budget needs for the lab and simulation learning environments.

    + Maintenance of the lab and simulation repair, replacement, replenishment plan to include supplies, equipment, hardware, and software to assist in budget planning.

    + Provide orientation and supervision of student lab assistants and lab adjuncts, including scheduling.

    + Teach 2-3 credits of didactic courses each semester.

    + May perform other duties as required.

    Driving Responsibilities

    Education & Experience Qualifications

    + Master’s degree in nursing with current and unencumbered NYS RN license.

    + 1-2 years of acute care hospital experience required.

    + BLS credentialed, ACLS preferred.

    + Prior management experience preferred.

    + Teaching experience preferred.

    Minimum Skills/Abilities

    + Strong computer and technology skills required.

    + Strong organizational skills required.

    + Excellent interpersonal communication skills

    + Experience with Simulation

    + The functions of the position usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, typewriter, calculator, etc. involve extensive wrist and hand movement. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above.
