Description:
+ **_Cardiac Special Procedure Tech II_**
+ Is responsible for the safe and effective performance of the hemodynamic computer system and related monitoring and data acquisition systems.
+ Assists physician in a variety of invasive and noninvasive procedures by performing all technical aspects and may direct the technical aspect of the procedure.
+ Effectively performs the duties and responsibilities of all other technical and patient care functions in a cross-trained laboratory including the administration of medications and IV conscious/moderate sedation under the direction of a qualified physician.
+ Provides patient care according to age specific criteria.
+ Performs all duties in accordance with the mission, vision and service excellence standards of the organization. **Education**
+ High school graduate or equivalent
+ Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field is preferred **Licensure**
+ Licensure is not required
+ ACLS required. BCLS required.
+ RCIS (formerly RCVT) or equivalent preferred **Training and Experience**
+ Satisfactory completion of a formal cardiac cath-training program is preferred, or minimum of one-year experience as a cardiac cath technologist (with demonstrable skills). **Job Knowledge**
+ Thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
+ Thorough understanding of principles of EKG, pressure waveform analysis, set-up and scrub procedure in a sterile field, operation of cineangiography equipment, arterial and venous blood gas analysis, catheterization procedures using Judkins and Sone techniques, temporary and permanent pacemaker placement, emergency procedures, cardiovascular medication administration (IV, oral, injected).
+ Must be able to operate a variety of diagnostic and computerized equipment such as hemodynamic recorders, EKG monitors, hemoximeter, Doppler cineangiography equipment, defibrillation, film processors, and intra-aortic balloon pump (when available).
+ Ability to recognize and analyze anatomical and pathological abnormalities common to age specific criteria.
