Immediate Opening - Director of Internal Audit - Richmond, VA

We are seeking an experienced Internal Director to join an very established Financial Services organization with operations throughout the state of Virginia. In this role, you will manage all aspects of the Internal Audit Department, including project execution, staff supervision, and daily operations. You will also ensure the effective implementation of audits in accordance with detail-oriented standards and our company policies.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise the execution of audits, from planning and risk assessment to the development of audit programs and detailed testing.

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the technology infrastructure.

• Communicate audit findings to management, assess risks linked to identified weaknesses, and ensure that appropriate actions are taken.

• Review and approve all documentation for assigned audit engagements.

• Provide leadership to the internal audit team and business unit management on internal control practices.

• Lead the development and implementation of computer-assisted audit techniques using specialized audit software.

• Coordinate the collection of data and use of data analysis software for monthly data analytics testing and individual audit engagements.

• Assist with the risk assessment process and the development of annual audit plans.

• Stay updated on regulations and issues affecting the industry and internal audit.

• Maintain a detail-oriented relationship with employees at all levels and keep all transactions with the Credit Union and/or members confidential.

• Comply with all published enterprise-level policies and procedures, including Risk Management policies.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of auditing, preferably within the Financial Services sector.

• Proficiency in Audit Program is essential for the role.

• Must have an understanding of Business Systems and how to utilize them effectively.

• The candidate should be adept in Data Mining Techniques.

• A thorough understanding and ability to execute Accounting Functions is required.

• Experience in leading or participating in Audit Committee meetings is necessary.

• The candidate should have a strong background in Auditing practices and principles.

• Proficiency in developing and executing Audit Plans is essential for this role.

*Degree in Accounting and Certification such as CPA, CIA or CISA is highly desired.
