General Description
The Career and Transfer Program at SUNY Niagara is seeking a graduate intern who is eager to gain hands-on experience in assisting students with Career Readiness and Transfer. This internship will provide students with exposure to a broad range of student support services in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Working closely with the Career & Transfer Coordinator, as well as members of the Student Success Center, the selected intern will have an excellent opportunity to explore the profession further. This position will be supervised by the Career & Transfer Coordinator.

About the Student Success Center
The Career and Transfer Office is located in The Student Success Center ( SSC ). We are committed to providing continuing students at SUNY Niagara the necessary support services to successfully achieve their personal and academic goals. If you are looking for information regarding your Academic Advisor, want to change your advisor, need general academic counseling, career exploration, career readiness, or transfer preparedness you will find it in the “SSC”. The “SSC” also offers counseling services pertaining to Excelsior Scholarships, Student Outcome Tracking ( SOT ), withdrawal counseling, and change of major information.

This internship opportunity is available for this Summer as well as the Fall 2025 semester.
This is an unpaid internship opportunity. However, students may be eligible to receive college credit through their academic institution. Interested applicants should consult with their college or university’s internship coordinator or academic advisor to determine if this internship meets the requirements for academic credit.
Typical Work Activities
+ Receive one-on-one training regarding career readiness, exploration and transfer functions
+ Resume writing, cover letters, Interview and career fair preparedness, LinkedIn, event planning, transfer guidance and more.
+ Exposure to a wide range of student populations (new, transfer, readmit, continuing, and alumni)
+ Participate in SSC events such as registration sessions, Welcome Week tabling, career fairs, open house, orientation, etc. (These vary depending on the semester/time frame of the internship)
+ Support students by connecting them with other offices on campus
+ Gain familiarity with various software such as Banner Web, Degree Works, Career Related resources on the web.
+ Conduct outreach to students for Job Location and Development report ( JLD )
+ Additional opportunities may be available based on a student’s background, interests, and skills
Essential Functions
Required Qualifications
+ Must be enrolled in a graduate program in student personnel administration or higher education/student affairs administration
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to work independently and as a team.
+ Candidates must have a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Desirable Qualifications
+ Experience with Microsoft Office suite preferred

The Niagara Falls Culinary Institute (http://www.nfculinary.org/) ( NFCI ) is located in the heart of one of the world’s biggest tourist destinations, Niagara Falls. Fully outfitted with modern labs and tools for students to use as they train in both classic and trendy techniques, NFCI is home to Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts, and Hospitality programs. The college also operates Savor, a fine dining restaurant, and La Patisserie, a European-style pastry café, at NFCI .
