    Brief Description of Duties:

    SUNY Morrisville seeks an ASAP/ACE Advisor to support our incredible program.

     

    Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) and Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) at SUNY Morrisville is a comprehensive program designed to help students complete their degrees on time. ASAP/ACE provides a range of financial, academic, and personal support, including intensive academic advisement and career counseling, as well as cost of attendance and textbook awards with a monthly financial stipend. Additional ASAP/ACE program features include a priority registration, as well as holistic support for academic, social and career needs.

     

    The ASAP/ACE Advisor is a member of an integrated college team providing individual academic and personal support to an assigned group of college students as they progress through the program.

    Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    + Delivers holistic support services including academic, social, wellness, and career guidance to an assigned group of students through degree completion;

    + Reviews student progress and tracks student use of academic support services;

    + Conducts regular outreach to faculty and other college staff as needed to support student success;

    + Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs;

    + Assist annual recruitment outreach of new students into the program;

    + Support periodic special events and programs for students

    The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills:

    + Strong understanding of the needs of freshmen and transfer college students;

    + Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team;

    + Demonstrated ability to work well with faculty and administrators;

    + Willingness to work limited evenings and weekends as needed;

    + Ability to enter, monitor and interpret student data accurately;

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills;

    + Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office and aptitude to learn new systems as needed such as Weave, Banner, Brightspace, etc.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree

    + General experience in academic advisement

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Masters, or Masters Degree in progress

    + Advising experience working with high school or college students from diverse backgrounds

    + Demonstrated ability to work independently and to organize events/workshops

    + Experience with various assessment and program evaluation strategies

    + Teaching experience is also strongly encouraged
