Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

     

    We are actively seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support a U.S. Department of State project — a comprehensive renovation of facility in Athens, Greece. This role will be instrumental in ensuring engineering quality, contract compliance, and the overall success of the Athens Major Rehab.

     

    As the Electrical Engineer, you will be a critical on-site expert responsible for technical inspections, quality assurance, and engineering oversight of all electrical systems and installations. This includes high and low voltage systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and fire alarm systems. You will ensure that all work aligns with U.S. engineering standards and international building codes.

     

    Duration: 24 months | 50 hours/week (Overtime up to 10 hours/week with approval)

     

    Clearance Required: Final Secret (Interim or Final Top Secret preferred)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Review and interpret construction drawings, design narratives, and technical specifications

    • Perform field inspections of electrical systems to ensure proper installation and compliance

    • Oversee the contractor’s quality assurance and safety programs

    • Verify that materials and methods meet contract standards

    • Evaluate contractor submittals, shop drawings, and substitution requests

    • Track progress against schedule and report issues through weekly and monthly reports

    • Identify and resolve non-compliance or technical issues on site

    • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure system integration

    • Provide engineering insight on RFIs, IGEs, and change order proposals

    • Document and maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, and inspections

    • Support final commissioning of all electrical systems

    :Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a U.S.-accredited institution (PE license may substitute

    • Minimum of 7 years hands-on experience in electrical work on construction projects of similar scope and value

    • Proven experience with high and low voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and telecom infrastructure

    • Overseas project experience highly preferred

    • Strong understanding of international codes and U.S. building practices

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    • Familiarity with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and U.S. construction safety regulations

    • Must possess a Final Secret, Interim Top Secret (ITS), or Final Top Secret (TS) clearance issued by Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) at the time of proposal.

    • Must be willing to work and relocate in Athens, Greece
