Description Regarded as one of Los Angeles top Hospital System, this organization is in the need of a Patient Access Manager to lead and oversee the Emergency Room Admitting, Financial Counseling, and Patient Registration departments. In this role, The Patient Access Manager will manage a team of 42 employees including 2 supervisors, 2 leads and ensure efficient operations, effective patient intake processes, and excellence in customer service for all areas under your supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership:
o Directly manage and mentor a team of admission clerks, registration specialists, and financial counselors.
o Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that reflects the values of the hospital.
o Be able to role sleeves us and assist in production when needed.
• Operational Oversight:
o Ensure timely and accurate patient registration and admission processes in the Emergency Room.
o Oversee financial counseling services, helping patients navigate billing, insurance verification, and payment options.
o Monitor team productivity, patient wait times, and departmental KPIs to optimize workflows.
• Compliance and Documentation:
o Ensure adherence to health care regulations, including HIPAA, and maintain accurate records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
o Stay up to date on regulatory changes and procedures affecting patient access.
• Problem Solving and Customer Service:
o Serve as a point of escalation for resolving patient and team concerns.
o Actively work with patients and families to address questions about financial options, admissions policies, or insurance processes.
o Counsel employees and assist with training of new hires.
• Collaboration:
o Build relationships with clinical, administrative, and billing teams to ensure seamless patient experiences.
o Partner with hospital leadership to align patient access services with broader organizational goals. Requirements
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in patient access, healthcare administration, or a similar leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of insurance workflows, financial counseling processes, and patient registration systems.
• Previous experience managing a large team, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Proficiency in healthcare technology platforms, including EHR systems.
