    Position Summary:

    Under general supervision, performs CAD work for the support of Alamo Group Engineering. Learns and eses SolidWorks to efficiently create and edit solid models, drawings, and assemblies. Supports basic Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for projects. Performs project testing under the direction of the lead engineer and engineering administrator. Provide assistance for prototype assembly, testing, and evaluation. Assists in production support activities such as document changes, training, and corrections to instructions.

     

    This is an amazing opportunity for any Mechanical and/or Manufacturing Engineer who has an interest in design work, especially within the areas of tractors, agriculture, automotive, etc. You will gain hands on experience that is unmatched by any other internship opportunity!

    Essential Functions of the Job:

    1. Perform CAD work in SolidWorks or DraftSight for lead engineers in a timely manner.

    2. Create Engineering Change Notices (ECN) under the direction of engineering staff.

    3. Perform component research for design projects.

    4. Provide assistance for the prototype build.

    5. Complete inspections and evaluations under the direction of the lead engineers.

    6. Assists in testing and testing reports.

    7. Assist in editing work instructions for assembly aids.

    8. May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

    1. Knowledge of basic CAD processes.

    2. Good communication skills, verbal, written, and online.

    3. Very strong teamwork skills.

    4. Computer software, Office 365 products – Excel, Word.

    5. Problem solving and troubleshooting skills are preferred.

    6. Basic knowledge of measuring tools and inspection processes.

    Education and Experience:

    1. Interest in an Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.

    2. Experience with hand tools and mechanical measuring devices.

    3. Texas drivers license.

    Working Conditions:

    1. Frequent sitting or standing for extended period of time. Standard office environment. Occasional to frequent walking in and around manufacturing plant or outdoors for testing.

    2. Must be able to lift 35 pounds alone and greater than 35 pounds with assistance.

    3. Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including hearing / eye protection, gloves, and safety shoes.

    4. Must be able to work overtime as needed to complete job assignments.

    5. Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled shop, in the field, or in the office at any time.
