Summary
A Davit Technician, (ADT), is responsible for installation, scheduling, testing, and servicing of hydraulic davit systems in the field and other products serviced by Fairbanks Morse Defense. The DT shall maintain a professional and positive attitude, perform quality workmanship, and be responsive to customer needs. The DT is also required to maintain continuous communication with Region Offices, and direct manager.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
ROLE
+ + Demonstrate professional work skills in the installation, repair, maintenance, and servicing of Davit systems and other designated equipment.
+ Conduct wiring of panels & davit systems for general fitting of davits
+ Can work independently on qualified products
+ Support of all shipboard constraints, including commissioning, servicing, and casualties worldwide
+ + May occasionally be assigned to shop duties such as general machining, part inspections, assembly, testing, and warehouse.
TECHNICAL
+ Keep up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining internal service records and manuals, maintaining customer service logs, providing accurate and timely reporting (expense reports, project closure, timekeeping, etc.), documenting work performed on Service Reports, and writing Condition Found Reports
+ Perform work related tasks in strict accordance with company product tech manuals.
+ Keep current on Engineering Change Orders, Field Service Change Notices and Service Information Letters
+ Document work performed on Service Reports and record critical inspections
SAFETY
+ Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and applicable regulatory requirements (including but not limited to operating in a safe manner in accordance with published safety guidelines, wearing appropriate PPE, reporting all work-related accidents or injuries immediately to the appropriate personnel, etc.)
+ Complete annual safety training requirements as outlined on regional safety schedule
ADMINISTRATION
+ Provide accurate and timely reporting according to company guidelines
+ Timecards, expense reports, mileage reports, project reports, et al.
+ Maintain company property according to company policies
+ Vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, et al.
+ Follow/adhere to all quality system requirements, and ensure quality workmanship
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
+ Perform high quality workmanship
+ Be responsive to customer needs and act as an FMD ambassador of customer satisfaction
+ Strive to provide all customers a “first time fix” for their equipment
+ Maintain customer satisfaction rates according to company guidelines
PERFORMANCE
+ Complete all work in an efficient and timely manner
+ Adhere to company dress code and safety regulations
+ Maintain professional attitude and appearance.
+ Understand and comply with company escalation processes and procedures
+ Maintain proper communication with all levels within the organization
+ Ability to manage stressful internal and external customer situations with diplomacy

Qualifications and Educational Requirements
+ Education:
+ High School Diploma or GED required; Crane Operator Certification preferred
+ Experience:
+ Associate degree in a technical discipline and four years military experience or relevant industry experience
+ Six years davit experience supporting navy customer or relevant industry
+ Reliable team player who consistently exhibits a professional demeanor
+ Knowledge of test equipment and theory
+ Knowledge of hydraulic equipment
+ Must be a reliable team player who consistently exhibits a professional demeanor
+ Proficiency in reading, understanding and interpreting diagrams, drawings and blueprints
+ Ability to read, understand, and interpret electrical schematics
+ Understanding of electrical components and systems
+ Able to troubleshoot and recommend appropriate solutions
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write technical reports (including specific work-related tasks performed), communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers
+ Strong organizational and time management skills, and attention to detail
+ Proficient level of computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
+ Strong customer service attitude
+ Strong mechanical aptitude
+ Maintain valid driver’s license
+ Able to travel (up to 75%) including weekends, evenings, and holidays and in emergency situations travel on short notice
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing duties of the above jobs, the technician is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or other components; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell. The technician frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to regularly lift at least 35 pounds.
