    Descriptive Title:Instructional Support Specialist

     

    Full time, Monday - Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm, 37.5 hour per week

    Description of Duties:

    - Biospecimen handling, processing, and preparation; including nucleic acid (DNA, RNA) extraction from human and animal tissues, quantification and dilution and oversight of sample storage and organization. - Independently perform non-routine and complex lab-rocedures and techniques, including but not limited to cell culture establishment and maintainence and making sequencing libraries for RNA-seq and scRNA-seq experiments. - Purchasing of lab consumables (e.g. reagents) and other supplies; communication with vendors, preparation of purchase orders. - Supervise medicial and graduate trainees that are invloved in lab projects and collaborations. - Troubleshooting experiments and protocols using various lab instrumentation. - Contribute to interpretation and reporting of scientific results, including manuscripts.

    Qualifications:

    REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree; must have 3+ years of experience, competent and proficient in the operation of sophisticated molecular biology instrumentation. PREFERRED: Experience with whole genome sequencing (WGS) and ssnRNA-seq, especially library preparation, is highly preferred.
