Job Description:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas is seeking highly qualified candidates for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in uncertainty quantification in experimental fluid mechanics. We are looking for a creative, independent, and highly motivated individual with a strong background in laboratory measurements to work on quantifying uncertainties in various fluid dynamic measurement techniques, including single point measurements, particle image velocimetry ( PIV ) flow visualizations, and laser Doppler anemometry ( LDA ), with applications in aerodynamics and air-sea interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience:
+ Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent terminal degree by the time the appointment begins.
+ Preference will be given to candidates with experience in experimental fluid mechanics, including hot-wire, ultrasonic, and laser anemometers, PIV , shadowgraph, and/or Schlieren techniques.
+ Candidates should have a track record in developing LabVIEW scripts and APIs for target-specific applications, along with experience working with data acquisition ( DAQ ) systems.
+ Proficiency in MATLAB , Python, and LabVIEW programming languages is essential.
+ Demonstrated research experience with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications in fluid dynamics, turbulence, air-sea interactions, or uncertainty quantification.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
