Job Summary and Qualifications
+ Responsible for technical administration and management of the Mammography section of the Radiology department. This should include the daily assignment of technical staff, management of the patient flow, ensuring staffing levels are appropriate to patient volume, and troubleshooting equipment failures.
+ Assists Director and Radiology Manager to ensure radiation safety guidelines are enforced throughout the department. Assist management to ensure that the Mammography equipment is inspected and remains compliant with VDH standards.
+ Maintains quality control testing and documentation mandated by the FDA through MQSA.
+ Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner. Monitors patient’s condition and communicates with appropriate caregivers as needed.
+ Oversees the imaging quality and technical accuracy of immediate staff. Demonstrates the ability to perform all computer operations to ensure proper examination documentation and charges. Print status report to ensure adequate turn around times for reports.
+ Ensures all Mammography protocols remain current. Educates and provides technical guidance to mammography technologists with regards to procedure protocols. Maintains a working knowledge with respect to CPT coding.
+ Orders and maintains adequate supply levels.
+ Demonstrates leadership and support of management initiatives in the performance of patient care and mammography procedures and flow.
+ Assists the Radiology Manager in completing and maintaining educational requirements for all Mammography staff including Initial Competency Assessment. Facilitates compliance of all mandatory training and education for their immediate staff.
+ Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedure
Qualifications:
**REQUIRED** : Three years minimum experience as a Mammography technologist
**PREFERRED** : One year of supervisory experience preferred.
EDUCATION
**REQUIRED** : Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT for licensure.
**PREFERRED** :
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION (Required or Preferred)
**Required** : American Registry of Radiologic Technology
Preferred: ARRT – Mammography Certification
Required: American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider
