Robert Half is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director to join our clients, team at a publicly traded company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing tax provisions for complex organizations and a deep understanding of tax compliance, strategy, and reporting processes. This is a critical leadership role, responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax-related activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and optimizing tax strategies to align with corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tax Provision and Reporting:
Lead and oversee the preparation and review of the company’s income tax provisions, ensuring compliance with ASC 740 and other applicable accounting standards.
Partner with the finance team to prepare accurate tax-related financial statements.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of quarterly and annual tax provisions for SEC filings (10-Q and 10-K).
Evaluate and document uncertain tax positions, tax contingencies, and deferred tax assets/liabilities.
2. Tax Compliance and Strategy:
Develop tax-efficient strategies to minimize the company’s effective tax rate and maximize shareholder value.
Monitor changes in tax laws and ensure the business is proactive in its compliance approach.
Conduct research and provide guidance on the tax implications of potential M& A activities, business investments, and other significant initiatives.
Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements related to the tax function.
3. Leadership and Collaboration:
Lead, mentor, and develop the tax team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Collaborate cross-functionally, partnering with finance, legal, accounting, and other departments to align tax strategies with overall company objectives.
Act as the primary liaison with external auditors and coordinate tax-related audits and inquiries with regulatory authorities.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, or Business Administration is preferred.
CPA certification is highly preferred.
10+ years of experience in corporate tax, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
Strong expertise in managing tax provisions for complex, publicly traded companies
Demonstrated track record of successful tax compliance, strategy development, and planning in a multi-jurisdictional environment.
Deep knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and explain technical tax concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high degree of accuracy.

Requirements
