    Job Description:

    The Solt lab at The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute of Biomedical Innovation and Technology, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, is seeking outstanding, creative, independent, and highly motivated postdocs. The Solt lab focuses on understanding and characterizing how nuclear receptors, a family of ligand-regulated transcription factors, influence T cell development, function, and chronic inflammatory diseases. Specific to this application, this NIH-funded postdoctoral position will seek to understand how the nuclear receptor, RORa, transcriptionally regulates TH17-mediated autoimmunity and chronic inflammation, largely in the context of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

     

    This project is multidisciplinary, using a variety of techniques and approaches including immunology, mouse genetics, molecular biology techniques, proteomics, and genomics. A successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of the project, including experimental design, analysis, and data interpretation.     The successful candidate will assume a leadership position within the lab; set the tone for both scientific and scholarly excellence; drive forward complex, innovative and impactful projects; develop and write fellowship applications; participate in a variety of group and departmental seminar and journal club series, as well as national and international conferences. In return, the applicant will gain critical experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic group environment. Dr. Solt is fully committed to supporting the career development of all her trainees with opportunities both in and outside of the lab and substantiative one-on-one interactions. She is keen to provide opportunities and support for women scientists who often leave the scientific workforce at this stage.

     

    This position works in a laboratory and vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

    Expected Salary:

    Commensurate with experience.

    Minimum Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. (or MD/PhD) in biological sciences such as immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, or biochemistry, with a strong international publication record.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Preference will be given to candidates with:

    + Expertise in immunology such as cell culture, flow cytometry, mouse genetics,in vivomodels of inflammation, etc.

    + Expertise in biochemistry, IP, WB, etc.

    + Epigenetics/Genomics approaches: ChIP, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, CUT&RUN, etc.

    + Basic bioinformatic knowledge (R, Python, or other programming languages) or ability to learn.

    + Excellent oral communication and written skills in English, with good organization, attention to detail, and analytical abilities.
