    This position will play a critical role in protecting the Finger Lakes region. The Education and Outreach (E/O) Program Manager will develop and manage public-facing, regional programs to support the goals of the Finger Lakes Institute (FLI) and the Finger Lakes Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM). Examples of such programs include those focused on watercraft inspection stewards and citizen science. The Finger Lakes Watercraft Inspection Steward Program places staff at public boat launches regionally to educate boaters and inspect watercraft for invasive species. Citizen science programs train volunteers to support the monitoring and early detection goals of the Finger Lakes PRISM. The E/O Program Manager will also support the strategic development of PRISM programming by organizing regional partnership and working group meetings. An ideal applicant has a strong managerial and organizational background and will be able to connect and leverage Finger Lakes PRISM programming with regional and statewide priorities and efforts. This position will work closely with Finger Lakes PRISM and FLI staff to deliver multidisciplinary, integrated programming that benefits the Finger Lakes Watershed.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervise fieldwork efforts of 20+ watercraft inspection stewards

    • Plan and implement year-round citizen science programs

    • Manage program data to ensure quality, including analysis, interpretation, and reporting

    • Attend local, regional, and statewide meetings to coordinate IS efforts with diverse partners

    • With help from FLI and FL PRISM staff, organize and moderate working group and partnership meetings quarterly

    • Supervise, implement, and report for relevant grants and contracts held by HWS

    OTHER INFORMATION

    This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. The position is based out of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, in the heart of the Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes PRISM is one of eight PRISMs supported via funding from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund as administered by NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid time off. Annual salary is $60,405.80

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental- or conservation-related field, master’s degree preferred

    • Understanding of current issues surrounding invasive species

    • Ability to utilize data to communicate through presentations, social media, and authored materials, including technical reports, to broad audiences, including the public, industry professionals, government and agency officials, and scientists

    • Ability to effectively analyze and evaluate program results to encourage program adaptations

    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow timelines

    • Ability to work in groups and across fields effectively

    • Program or team management experience preferred

    • Familiarity with tools including ArcGIS products, MS Office suite; experience with R preferred

    • Familiarity with statistical and analytical methods, and tools including RStudio appreciated
