The Regional Senior Assistant/Associate will participate in the planning, coordination and implementation of strategy and tactics that enable the Colleges to recruit and enroll intellectually curious students. This positions responsibilities will include territory management (travel, correspondence and communication with prospective students and secondary school personnel), interviewing prospective students, hosting regional events, prospective student application review and attendance at select on-campus events. The Senior Assistant/Associate will have direct oversight and responsibility for at least one office-wide project or initiative, which could include further supervision of students, and coordination with constituents across campus. Evenings and weekend work are frequently required at various times throughout the year. Salary and title dependent on years of experience. Candidates are expected to have multiple years of admissions experience and live in either Connecticut or Western Mass.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Manage a recruitment territory including travel, school relations, communication with prospective students, interviews, application review, and other activities as assigned. Anticipated territory is most of CT, Western Mass, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
• Make 3-6 trips back to campus for training, updates, and assisting with on-campus programing depending on the needs of the office.
• Evaluation of prospective student applications and making thoughtful recommendations for admission to the Colleges.
• Establish personalized communication, using all channels, with prospective students, school counselors, and community-based organizations.
• Works and lives in territory, participate in regional admission activities and events to help with Hobart and William Smith’s recognition within the region.
• Planning, execution, and leadership of key projects or enrollment initiatives beyond the individual recruitment territory.
• Contributes to Admissions team efforts by assisting counselors with remote responsibilities through recruitment committee support, virtual session coverage, answering calls, etc.
• Ability to work independently and manage a work schedule that periodically falls outside typical business hours
• Demonstrate an awareness of, sensitivity to, and empathy for the unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances of students.
• Understand and interpret data that are a part of the admission and financial aid processes including: applications for admissions, accepted student questionnaires, enrollment planning data, admissions charts, and tables, needs assessment documents.
• Articulate the Colleges’ educational philosophy and mission in a manner that resonates with prospective students and families.
• Participate in regional college admissions associations and represent the Colleges at events and presentations.
• Liaise with various student organizations, clubs, and groups as needed.
• Performs other related duties as required.
Other Information:
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible, administrative exempt position. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Applicants must reside in CT, or Mass. All applicants must have a valid driver’s license, A quiet distraction-free workspace that allows for focused and professional work during business hour, and reliable high-speed internet connection capable of supporting video calls, file uploads/downloads, and other job-related tasks. Salary range is $60,405 - $70,000 annually.
• Bachelor's degree is required.
• 2-5 years of professional experience required.
• College admission recruitment or related experience preferred.
• Candidates for the position must possess superb written and oral communication skills, computer skills, and a high level of energy
• Valid driver’s license, excellent driving skills and comfortable in various driving conditions/environments.
• Knowledge of enrollment CRM (Slate), Microsoft Office helpful.
• The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
