Position Summary
Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking clinicians at the independent practice level of licensure (e.g., Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor) for a full-time role as an EAP Clinician.
EAP Clinicians provide _virtual and in-person short-term, solution-focused, time-limited counseling_ for its EAP-covered employees, dependents, and household members. While we primarily serve adults >18 y/o, this may include work with teens aged 13-19, parent counseling, parent-child sessions, and couples therapy.
EAP Clinicians will also provide additional organizational services, such as:
+ Wellness Training & EAP Orientations via webinar or in-person seminar, podcasts, video messages, etc., including creating relevant and research-supported content for wellness trainings and academic papers
+ Providing ongoing support to work groups or departments by serving as a dedicated liaison of the EAP to these groups; this may include psychoeducational groups or support groups focused on certain subjects (e.g., Parenting, Work-Life Balance, etc.)
+ Conduct Critical Incident Response [CIR] Organizational Support Groups and 1:1 support on-site or virtually to work groups traumatized by the death of a colleague, workplace violence incident, or other disruptive events. In addition, teams may benefit from “rounding” (joining team huddles or walking the floor, handing out business cards). Please note that these crisis-oriented interventions will sometimes occur at times when you are not scheduled to work, such as very early morning or mid- or late-evening, and possibly even on a weekend on rare occasions, and each staff member is expected to volunteer to staff some proportion of these.
+ Provide management consultation to supervisors, managers, or Human Resources professionals on how to manage and provide behavioral health support to employees with work performance or actual or suspected psychological decompensation or substance misuse problems
+ Hours: hours will vary but each staff member must work at least one early evening until 8pm or 9pm per week; if two early evenings are possible, that is desirable. Other days of the week will be 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm, 10pm-6pm or similar, as determined by program need.
+ Site: As of this posting, the expectation is for staff to work from home 3-4 days per week, and in the office 1-2 days per week, plus travel to various sites for Critical Incident Debriefings 1-2x/month (approximately). This is subject to change over time.
Job Responsibilities
+ Provides individual and group therapy in an outpatient setting, via telemedicine and/or in-person treatment.
+ Provides comprehensive assessment and diagnosis using the DSM-V. Develops treatment plans and aftercare planning.
+ Prepares ahead for sessions, tailoring treatment to each patient's unique needs.
+ Documents in a timely manner. Participates in program growth that includes engaging in wellness programming planning and/or community outreach activities.
+ Attends and contributes to team meetings and peer supervision.
+ Engages in continuing education.
+ Communicates and collaborates regularly with patient care team–both other mental health care providers, as well as other medical providers at Weill Cornell Medicine / New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Education
+ Master's Degree
Experience
+ Training and experience in assessment, referral, and short-term counseling modalities (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, DBT, etc.)
+ Training in working with children/adolescents, parent-child sessions and couples therapy strongly desirable
+ Basic to moderate expertise in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
+ Ability to master EAP Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software and other relevant software as needed
+ Strong customer service focus with ability to appropriately manage escalations; communicates effectively with clients and staff
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Flexibility on working hours to accommodate organizational emergencies that must be staffed off hours (e.g., at times when staff is not typically scheduled to work – early morning, mid- or late-evening, etc.)
+ Ability to research wellness/psychology/relationship topics and create content for webinars & seminars based on research from reputable and documented source material in PowerPoint
+ Ability and willingness to take on projects as needed as assigned by the Clinical Director or other program leaders
+ Optional but desirable: Bilingual in Spanish or other languages
+ Optional but desirable: experience working in hospitals and/or a strong interest in working with healthcare workers

+ Ability to communicate effectively.

+ Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
lcswLicenses and Certifications
+ Licensure in social work (LCSW or LMSW) or mental health counseling (LMHC).
