    Assistant Education & Child Development Coordinator

    Description:

    Assists in plans for the development, coordination, and implementation of educational services to infants, toddlers, and preschool children. Assists in ensuring that the education staff participates in necessary training related to assessment, curriculum, and best practice to serve the needs of children and families within the educational and home settings. Complies with Head start Performance Standards and regulations related to facility licensing, operation, and educational systems for day care and the provision of services for children with disabilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Works cohesively with Center Directors, Coordinators, and staff to ensure effective delivery of child development services for all children enrolled in early childhood programs.

    • Works closely with the Special Services Coordinator to ensure that children with special needs are serves within the least restrictive environment with appropriate support.

    • Ensures that developmental screenings and other mandated screenings are reviewed at each site as a team within 45 days of a child’s entry, to clearly identify children who may require further assessments and or services.

    • Assists in the coordination of outcome measurement and reporting requirements.

    • Provides on-going observation, support, training, and monitoring of the education staff in their operation of a developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children.

    • In collaboration with other leadership staff, monitors education records and reports these findings to the site supervisor ad employee for revision when necessary.

    • Attends appropriate in-service, state, regional, or other training that will enhance the on-going development of education services for Head Start children.

    • Assists in planning annual training schedule for education staff.

    • Provides support in centers as assigned by the Education & Child Development Coordinator.

    • Works cooperatively with community agencies (school districts) in the spirit of collaboration to ensure children and families are afforded every opportunity to have information or services related to their needs.

    • Participates in other assignments deemed necessary for the successful operation of Early Childhood Program.

    Requirements

    You must have:

    • Master’s degree in Education or a related field.

    • Experience with Early Childhood Programs.

    You should have:

    • NYS Teaching Certification preferred.
