A Brief Overview

Supervises routine patient food production, service and nutritional care, employee/visitor/cafeteria meals and catering activities. Provides exceptional care and service to patients, guests and employees at all times. Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and the Ethical and Religious Directives for healthcare.

What you will do

+ Inventories, orders, receives, and stores food ingredients according to HACCP Guidelines.

+ Evaluates finished products allowing only quality menu items to be served.

+ Maintains knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets to train, supervise, food service workers, Diet clerks, and/or cooks. Knowledge of when to refer nutritional issues to Dietitians.

+ Monitors staff use of food service chemicals for proper dispensing, labeling, and use for safety and effectiveness.

+ Prepares weekly production staff schedule including staff vacations, catered events, etc.

+ Daily counts, reconciles and records cafeteria money from cash registers.

+ Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

+ ServSafe Certificate - National Restaurant Association

+ Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food handling and sanitation.

+ Previous food service experience in hospital or long-term care.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

+ High School or GED Equivalent

+ Supervisor experience.
