Generac Energy Technologies is seeking an Electrical Components Quality Engineer to join our growing team. This position will focus on all electronic components for Generac Clean Energy products. The successful candidate will aid in the selection and supplier qualifications for all electronic commodity suppliers, manage the technical aspects of the individual component commodities and cover all technical process audits and problem resolution. Candidates should be passionate about assuring high quality, defect free parts and subassemblies are delivered for the manufacturer of final assemblies.
Up to 30/40% travel may be required for this role.
This position is based in one of the following locations:
Portland, ME
Waukesha, WI
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Responsible for electronics components qualification and capability of understanding the product function, manufacturing processes and materials. The following list of commodities will be the responsibility of this role.
-MOSFETS
-Printed Circuit Boards (PCB’s)
-Wound components
-Digital and analog discrete components
-Relays
-IC’s
+ Work directly with engineering on application of components in power conversion hardware for solar and battery storage applications.
+ A good component level application knowledge for AC and DC power operated products is required. It’s essential to have knowledge in high frequency AC to DC, DC to AC and DC to DC power conversion circuits.
+ Ability to read, understand and extract component details from data sheets, provide support to the design team and assist in part choices.
+ Participate in electrical design reviews as a key player to support the reliability expectations of the chosen components.
+ Work with engineering to document critical to quality features of components and to implement via OQC and IQC at the applicable manufacturing locations.
+ Supplier/Partner selection and development. (Technical support to supplier quality)
+ Administer Supplier Process Audits according to predetermined plans.
+ Participate in DFMEA and DFM activities as applicable to specific component commodities.
+ Administer PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) elements with suppliers. (i.e. Process Flows, PFMEA and Control Plans)
+ Utilization of statistical methods to manage process control within the suppliers manufacturing process. (i.e. SPC,Gage RnR etc)
+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers based on a formal trend management approach and suffering performance metrics.
+ Lead and drive all 8D SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) activities adhering to required time to closure.
+ Adhere to quality and safety certification standards.
+ Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering (with 5+ years of direct experience)
Preferred Job Requirements
+ Must possess strong technical fluency in selection of various component commodities. Capability of selecting Power FETS and Wire Wound Components is a plus.
+ Experience with eCAD tools like Altium, Eagle to design review an electrical design at schematic and layout levels.
+ Solid quantitative skill set and the ability to analyze and communicate with well-supported data
+ Proficient with the suite of Office Software, Quality and Statistical tools.
+ An individual critical thinker to strategically align actions to needs and set goals for a technical team for success.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
