Description

We are seeking an experienced Radio Field Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and performance of our radio and microwave communication infrastructure. This role involves regular site visits, including PSAP locations, to perform preventative maintenance (PM), troubleshoot issues, and support upgrades — ensuring the integrity and uptime of our microwave ring and overall radio network.

+ Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on microwave and radio equipment at remote tower and PSAP sites

+ Work with Nokia and Alcatel microwave and radio systems, including configuration, monitoring, and repairs

+ Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, network, and connectivity issues impacting radio communications

+ Ensure network uptime and reliability, especially during adverse weather or emergency conditions

+ Execute and support system upgrades, firmware updates, and equipment replacements

+ Maintain documentation of site visits, repairs, upgrades, and system health

+ Collaborate with operations teams to monitor and maintain the integrity of the microwave ring and overall radio communications network

+ Respond to after-hours or emergency issues as needed

Requirements

+ 3+ years of experience in radio/microwave field service or telecommunications

+ Hands-on experience with Nokia and Alcatel radio/microwave equipment

+ Strong understanding of RF principles, microwave transmission, and network routing

+ Ability to work independently and travel to multiple remote sites

+ Familiarity with public safety communications systems and PSAP environments a plus

+ Must pass a CJS clearance (comprehensive background check required)

+ Climbing/tower work certifications (if applicable)

+ Experience with network monitoring tools and diagnostic software

+ Knowledge of FCC regulations and public safety communication standards
