    Lead Anesthesia Tech – Full-Time Opportunity at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our team as a full-time Lead Anesthesia Technician. With a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 (based on experience), this is your chance to advance your career in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

     

    We’re looking for candidates with 5+ years of experience and previous experience as a lead in anesthesia to bring their expertise and leadership skills to our team. This role requires flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.

    Responsibilities:

    + Report problems or occurrences to Chief Anesthesia Technologist and Chief Anesthesiologist.

    + Adhere to UPMC policy when arranging for an evaluation.

    + Display thorough knowledge of OR procedures, policies, and techniques.

    + Demonstrate initiative in problem solving as related to patient and technical issues that contribute to the improvement of the Operating Rooms function and operation.

    + Assume charge responsibilities in absence of lead anesthesia technologist.

    + Assist with Anesthesia positioning and ICU transport.

    + Operate Blood Cell Saver.

    + Assist with off-site anesthesia cases.

    + Work in stressful, ambiguous environment and often without relief.

    + Assist with the evaluation of new equipment and supplies.

    + Consistently demonstrate the principles of Service Excellence.

    + Set up, repair, calibrate and maintain all anesthesia equipment including intraoperative intervention.

    + Remain accessible to operating rooms at all times.

    + Enter and interpret MRS numbers.

    + Perform and evaluate thromboelastrographs (TEG).

    + Teach both skill and theoretical principles to new employees and students.

    + Operate equipment used intraoperatively.

    + Operate rapid infusion pump system (RIS).

    + Maintain supply inventory if assigned; order supplies from internal and external sources as needed.

    + Complete employee evaluations.

    + Adhere to sterile technique and universal precautions.

    + Maintain personal growth and development by participating in the in-service and continuing education programs.

    + Support cost containment in the use of materials and equipment.

    + Assist with the pre, intra and post operative placement of invasive monitoring lines, such as arterial, venous, and PA catheters.

    + Participate with capital budget purchases.

    + Draw blood samples from existing intravascular lines.

    + Monitor and maintain emergency cart.

    + Integrate knowledge and critical thinking skills.

    + Assist in room turnover by procuring assembling anesthesia equipment and supplies for each anesthesia care based upon the type of case and the preference of the professionals who will be delivering the anesthesia care.

    + Maintain the functioning of anesthesia equipment through troubleshooting, testing and preventive maintenance. Contact service personnel if necessary.

    + Perform Phlebotomy as requested.

    + Communicate with professional anesthesia staff according to daily operating room assignments prior to the start of each shift.

    + Develop anesthesia tech and aide employee schedule.

    + Excel or stand out when performance is compared with what can reasonably be expected from employees occupying the same job.

    + Demonstrate autonomy and strong leadership skills.

    + Assist with difficult airway management.

    + High School Diploma or GED or Graduate from an accredited Anesthesia Tech school and 3 years of progressive anesthesia technician experience required OR HS Diploma or Graduate from an accredited Anesthesia Tech school and 3 years of progressive anesthesia technician experience required OR if ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician, HS Diploma or Graduate from an accredited Anesthesia Tech school and 2 years of progressive anesthesia technician experience required

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T. T.) preferred
