    We are looking for a dedicated Animal Care Technician to assist with the care and maintenance of animals used in research studies. The role involves ensuring the health, safety, and comfort of animals, following regulatory standards, and performing various routine tasks under supervision.

    Contract Role

    **Pay** : $20-24/hr

    **Location** : De Soto, Kansas

    Qualifications:

    + Minimum education: High school diploma. Equivalent experience and education will be considered.

    + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

    + Must demonstrate a commitment to the quality care of laboratory animals and direct contact with a variety of animals.

    + Basic knowledge of animal husbandry, health, and welfare for specific species at the facility.

    + Preferred: Associate's Degree in Life Sciences or Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences.

    + At least 3 years of experience working in an animal test or research facility or production system.

    + Must follow directions, adhere to SOPs, and be self-motivated with strong teamwork abilities.

    + Must be flexible with work hours, including weekends and holidays.

    Responsibilities:

    + Provide basic animal husbandry, including feeding, watering, sanitation, and socialization. Monitor animals for adverse reactions.

    + Clean and disinfect animal units after experiments, including cleaning, disinfecting, changing filters, and fumigation.

    + Assist with technical procedures such as bleeding, restraining, and inoculation, including collecting biological samples like blood, nasal swabs, and fecal samples.

    + Assist with euthanasia and necropsy of animals for tissue collection, in collaboration with veterinarians and project leaders.

    + Maintain accurate records of animals involved in studies and report abnormal behaviors to the Attending Veterinarian or Supervisor.

    + Review animal protocol studies before initiating research and ensure proper placement of animals within the facility. _This job description is a complete list of all desired skills, but not all are required.
