    Position Summary** : Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic medical sonograms at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomy measurements and abnormal or suspicious anatomy; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. **Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.

    Duties:

    + Review outpatient orders prior to day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.

    + Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication.

    + Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated and ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.

    + Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.

    + Perform a variety of diagnostic sonograms to include but not limited to Abdomen- Aorta, right upper quadrant, renal, renal doppler, OB GYN- first, second, and third trimester fetal examinations, pelvis- trans abdominal and transvaginal. Small parts- thyroid, extremity, scrotum, and breast. Pediatrics- pylorus, spine, hips. Procedures- Biopsies of thyroid, liver, lymph nodes, renal, aspirations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.

    + Perform standard diagnostic sonogram procedures as required by physician’s order.

    + Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.

    + Completion of exam in hospital information system.

    + Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment.

    + May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.
