Job Description
As a Disease Intervention Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of STI and HIV prevention—educating the community, interviewing cases and contacts, and helping people connect with essential care. Your work will combine public health outreach, investigation, and education to help reduce transmission and improve outcomes. Ideal candidates are compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to equity in healthcare.
What You’ll Do
+ Interview individuals diagnosed with HIV/STIs to identify and notify partners
+ Provide testing, education, and linkage to care services
+ Assist in administering rapid tests and support outbreak investigations
+ Maintain accurate, confidential case records and prepare surveillance reports
+ Deliver prevention education to communities and healthcare providers
+ Analyze trends, present findings, and support program development
+ Work occasional non-standard hours and respond during public health emergencies
+ Maintain compliance with HIPAA, internal policies, and state/federal regulations
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
+ Experience working with at-risk populations
+ Strong interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills
+ Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
+ Proficiency in record keeping and confidentiality practices
+ Cultural competence and ability to engage diverse communities
+ Experience in partner notification and disease intervention
+ If required to drive, must meet and maintain compliance with Fleet Safety Policy
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience in sexual health education or counseling
+ HIV testing and counseling certification
+ Spanish fluency (written and spoken)
+ Phlebotomy certification or willingness to obtain
