Join our Culinary team at Ensworth School - Nashville, TN

We are seeking a growth-minded Chef Manager to lead and oversee our culinary and food service operations at Ensworth School in Nashville, TN. As Executive Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to create exceptional dining experiences that contribute to the growth and well-being of our students and faculty. This role offers the chance to be a part of a vibrant community dedicated to excellence and growth. As a Chef Manager, you will report directly to the Executive Chef and will play a key role in shaping the dining experience for both students and staff.

Ensworth School is a prestigious K-12 day school with two campuses located on 127 acres of scenic land, adjacent to Edwin Warner Park and the Little Harpeth River

What You'll Do:

+ Lead and manage the full scope of culinary operations, including inventory management, ordering, and receiving.

+ Develop and maintain menus, with a strong focus on cost controls, local sourcing, and utilizing seasonal ingredients.

+ Oversee purchasing and inventory processes to ensure efficient use of resources and minimize waste.

+ Drive sustainability initiatives in the kitchen, sourcing locally and reducing the environmental impact of food production.

+ Ensure the operation meets financial goals, with a solid understanding of P&L and budget management.

+ Supervise food production to maintain high standards of food quality, taste, presentation, and sanitation.

+ Foster a positive and efficient kitchen environment, training and mentoring staff for success.

+ Report directly to the Executive Chef, providing regular updates on operational progress, challenges, and initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

+ At least 3 years of culinary management experience, preferably in a high-volume contract food service, education setting, fine dining, or a restaurant setting.

+ Experience with inventory and purchasing oversight.

+ Catering experience is required.

+ Extensive knowledge of food and catering trends, food cost controls, and the importance of high-quality production, sanitation, and presentation.

+ Experience in exposition cooking (interactive or live cooking stations) is required.

+ Knowledge of P&L accountability and experience in contract-managed services is a plus.

+ ServSafe certification is a plus, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.

+ Strong working knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety protocols.
