• Government Relations Risk Analyst and Data Manager

    Overview:

    Support the first line of defense risk management function by assisting with the Government Relations department on identification and assessment of risks and risk monitoring of political activities. Ability to research, assess and understand a variety of state laws, regulatory requirements and pay to play activities. Provide assistance in the development of various operational risk/compliance related initiatives within Government Relations and the Political Action Committee (PAC) ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Collect, analyze and interpret PAC data to identify patterns and insights that can inform strategic initiatives.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Responsible for completely and accurately documenting Government Relations unit processes. Identify and assess risks and internal controls associated with political activities.

    + Research, assess and maintain up to date understanding of regulatory requirements, state laws and policy changes that may impact political engagement and pay to play activities.

    + Responsible for reviewing and overseeing on time filing of all state and federal reporting requirements.

    + Manage and analyze PAC data including, membership numbers, dollars raised and distributed, trends and insights to help inform presentations and strategic direction.

    + Monitor business unit performance with respect to established key risk indicators (KRIs) and assist in the creation of comprehensive KRI reporting.

    + Identify emerging risks and risks associated with new products/ services/ markets/ channels or changes to existing products/ services/ markets/ channels.

    + Build a working relationship with Internal Audit, Corporate Operational Risk, Legal and Corporate Compliance Portfolio Managers.

    + Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

    + Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

    + Complete other related duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience Required:

    Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience

     

    M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $71,985.72 - $119,976.20 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
