It was the first laboratory to describe the mouse model of orthotopic vascularized lung transplantation and has made seminal discoveries contributing to unique pathways of lung transplant tolerance. Successful candidates will join a dynamic research team that is at the cutting edge of lung immunology that combines cellular, molecular as well as imaging tools to discover pathways that regulate lung alloimmune responses. Persons with an interest in translational aspects of research, including drug development for allograft tolerance, would be well-suited to this position. _A few selected publications include:_ Murine vascular endothelium activates and induces the generation of allogeneic CD4 25 Foxp3 regulatory T cells/. J Immunol/. 2005 Nov 15;175(10):6265-70. Orthotopic Mouse Lung Transplantation as Experimental Methodology to Study Transplant and Tumor Biology. Nature Protocols. 2009; 4(1):86-93. Cutting edge: MHC class II expression by pulmonary nonhematopoietic cells plays a critical role in controlling local inflammatory responses./J Immuno/l.2010 Oct 1;185(7):3809-13. Central memory CD8 T lymphocytes mediate lung allograft acceptance./J Clin Invest/. 2014 Mar 3;124(3):1130-43. Eosinophils promote inducible NOS-mediated lung allograft acceptance./JCI Insight/. 2017 Dec 21;2(24). Eosinophils Downregulate Lung Alloimmunity by Decreasing TCR Signal Transduction. /JCI Insight/. 2019 Jun 6;4(11).
