    Product Assurance Director

    Job Description

    + Product Issue Management: Working in partnership with central quality to help resolve product issues and customer escalations using structured processes like 8D, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis. This includes swiftly identifying issues, implementing containment actions, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders to maintain trust and satisfaction.

    + Quality Improvements: Develop and implement strategies to improve product quality, leveraging data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration.

    + Problem Solving: Cross-functional leader able to resolve quality issues, coordinating rapid, structured problem-solving across engineering and manufacturing teams.

    + Design for Quality: Integrate industry best practices and customer-specific quality requirements into the design, development, and production processes to ensure products are built with consistency, reliability, and excellence from the outset.

    + Data-Driven Improvements: Analyze and report on quality performance metrics, providing actionable insights through regular reporting on customer returns, identifying trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.

    + Customer Relations: In partnership with Renesas customer quality, help foster and maintain strong relationships with customer QA teams, serving as a product team liaison to lead communication, ensuring alignment and timely support.

    + Training: Identify and drive training on structured problem-solving methodologies for organizational abilities in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.

    Qualifications

    + Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

    + Industry Experience: 10-15+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry.

    + Communication: Excellent communication, organizational, and people skills, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.

    + New Product Development: End-to-end familiarity with new product development flow for semiconductors, from product specifications to qualification reports and datasheets.

    + Design and Test for Reliability (DfR): Experience in implementing Design for Reliability (DfR) principles to ensure products meet reliability standards throughout their lifecycle. This includes integrating reliability considerations into the design phase, conducting rigorous testing to validate product performance, and applying reliability engineering techniques to identify and mitigate potential failure modes.

    + Circuit Design Principles: Strong understanding of electrical circuit design principles and practices, with the ability to review and interpret circuit designs to identify and address potential quality issues.

    + Semiconductor Manufacturing: In-depth knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, dicing, post-processing, wire-bonding, handling, and packaging, with the ability to understand and address physical defects and quality issues at each stage.

    + Data-Driven Leadership: Strong capabilities with statistical analysis, structured problem-solving methodologies, and making data-driven decisions, as well as understanding how statistical process control (SPC) is used to monitor and control manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality.

    + Quality Standards: Familiarity with commercial and automotive quality standards, including ISO 9001, ISO/IATF 16949, AEC-Q100, and AEC-Q200. Ability to apply these standards to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement in product quality and reliability.

    + Failure Analysis: Familiarity with failure analysis techniques to diagnose and resolve design and manufacturing-related quality issues.

    Company Description

    Renesas is seeking a Product Assurance Director who is a hands-on, technical leader capable of leading product quality improvement initiatives and rapid issue resolution activities for a fast-growing Power Division with more than $500M in annual revenue and a portfolio of power solutions in markets including datacenter, Artificial Intelligence (AI), high-performance networking, and Edge AI client.

     

    This technical leader will partner closely with Renesas’ customer and product quality organization and will be responsible for overseeing definition and execution of corrective and proactive quality improvements across the power product portfolio, leading a cross-functional team including product definition, design, verification, validation, applications, product and test engineering.

     

    To be successful in this role, the technical leader must be capable of leading teams to swiftly identify, contain, and resolve quality issues using structured methodologies with proven root-cause analysis and corrective action techniques. The leader will help champion "design for quality" principles, integrating industry best practices into every stage of the product lifecycle to achieve excellence in consistency and reliability for near zero defect mindset in a cost-effective manner.
