    Summary of Job Duties: The Georgia Department of Education - Atlanta Area School for the Deaf is recruiting for an experienced Audiologist. Under general supervision the successful candidate will assess and treat children aged birth to high school graduation with hearing loss. Fit and dispense hearing aids and provide support for auditory training. At least 50% travel is required.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Administer and interpret developmentally appropriate, comprehensive auditory evaluations

    + Effectively collaborate with physicians and other health and educational personnel

    + Assesse need for and recommend appropriate auditory rehabilitation including but not limited to medical referrals, amplification needs, associated therapeutic intervention, and educational needs including support for language and literacy development

    + Counsel clients and families in regard to evaluation findings and recommendations

    + Effectively communicates recommendations to referral sources and family

    + Dispense recommended assistive equipment such as hearing aids

    + Maintains client records at all stages, including initial evaluation and discharge

    + In collaboration with the family, health, and educational professionals - monitor progress and adjust treatment recommendations accordingly

    + Prepare reports on diagnostic findings, treatment used, and client's progress

    + Maintains clear understanding of documentation required for authorization and billing purposes

    + Participates in public information events, volunteer fairs, etc. to promote the Georgia Mobile Audiology Program and State Schools Outreach

    + Provide education and consultation to staff, school personnel, and community stakeholders to increase knowledge of auditory disorders including implications for social/emotional and language development and educational outcomes and management of care/services

    + Participate in research studies for publication and conference presentations

    + Supervise graduate students in Audiology and in evaluation of the -auditory and vestibular systems

    + Receive additional training and implements learned content, as needed or required

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Three years (3) as Audiologist with pediatric diagnostic and hearing assistive technology experience

    + Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations pertaining to audiological services to students

    + Knowledge and experience with educational audiology

    + Experience with supervision of audiology technicians, audiology assistants and/or students

    Doctorate or Master's degree in speech-language pathology or audiology, or both, from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience at the lower level Aud/Speech Pathologist 1 (HCP010) or position equivalent AND current Georgia licensure and/or certification to practice in the area of assignment.
